General SCORM Implementation Questions

We are in the process of spec'ing out the integration we will be doing with SCORM.

We do not host an LMS, rather, LMS's use our testing tool to assess students at the conclusion of their course material.

We have several questions with regard to imlementing SCORM integration:
1. Is there a best-practices method of avoiding the cross-domain scripting issue? We've read a number of posts and documents outlining "possible" solutions. The most plausible seems to be the callback method, however, this would require any LMS with whom we intend on integrating, having some script file hosted locally. Is this correct? Also, I am not completely clear on how this mechanism works.

2. Do any LMS vendors support SCORM using alternate methods of communication (i.e. web services, etc.) while still using the same API method names and the data model? I guess a better phrasing would be, what is the most common method by which LMS vendors support SCORM knowing they wiill likely face cross-domain issues (especially large scale LMS vendor with disparate content repositories).

On the surface, SCORM integration appears relatively simple to implement. Then the cross-domain issue enters and suddenly things get much more involved.

Regards,
Jacob
